Here we Persevere, Gu Hae-ra , a wonderful musical drama on cable channel Mnet, which manages to blend in perfect balance of music, theater, heart, cuteness and meta. The title is a term that literally means that but seven times fall back for an eighth (ie insist ), and the show is heavy on musical performances and interludes, similar to Mnet of Monstar . Each episode also takes a famous song as the title.
The premiere takes a fun premise through the audition show and pop culture sensation among Superstar K and presents this drama history as the invisible B -sides, allowing for plenty of references and inside jokes (the directors were PDs on Superstar K ). The show is full of potential in his story and music, as it has done a great job with the musical moods and choices for this first installment. How much music there is scattered throughout the show, I will combine the available songs for your convenience. The drama airs once a week on Friday and currently has four episodes in, so we play a little catch-up. So without further ado ...
EPISODE 1: "The day we met"
We begin with an interview with today's Superstar K Season 2 Top 11 alumni from: John Park, Jang Jae-in, Andrew Nelson, to name a few. They reminisce about their days in the show, and when an image is passed, every singer recognizes the group of their season, saying that they all inject a. But we (the public) would not know as Super Star K participants because they were cut from the material in full, because an unknown conflict. These unknown candidate will be the focus of our drama.
April 2010 "5, 6, 7, 8!" A group of dancers gracefully execute their moves, merges with a swirl in our singers and instrumentalists. The music crescendos in Kim Won-Joon "Show", and we have to get a great musical montage of dancing and singing in the school. The scene ends with a dramatic final before going to school, and where we see that the whole musical filmed an advertisement for the university.
represents a girl over her own feet as she falls for a Kiddie Taekwondo Studio to a van. This is GU HAE RA ( Min Hyo-rin ), and she followed in the car of her boyfriend, KANG SE-CHAN ( Jinyoung ). Hae-ra curse their bad luck, but Se-chan assures her that he collected all his good luck to them today.
While the small Taekwondo girl cookies filling (and therefore to make her scream) in her mouth, she gets a call from the casting director about their whereabouts to ask, and it is stored by Se-chan, the the Director assured that they're almost there-they can see the building from the car, he is. Van driver ajumma TSKS that he would first go to hell if it approvingly merry for Hae-ra, and he nods.

by this sudden stop, a guy steps out of the car with a nice stretch Awakened .. Hae-ra runs mad at him and scream his name, KANG SE-JONG ( Kwak Shi-Yang ). He seems to be nonchalant and angry about the audition, but he is worried when he sees face Hae-ra. He grabs her face and asks if they ate the peanut cookies in the car. She did not know they were peanut cookies, and unfortunately she is allergic.
He grabs her, ready to take them to the hospital, but she refuses. She missed last year audition because of swine flu, and it is not this lack. He drops her wrist and makes it clear that he warned her.
Se-chan filled forms for their team and noticed the participants beside him no pen has. He has his pen and the man takes it, but not before he wipes it down with a disinfectant wipe. The interviews for the participants start, and we are introduced to our crew.
First up is the milkmaid, LEE WOO-RI ( Yoo Sung-eun ), which is a vocal student. She says that her professor said that one should chubster as they try for Superstar K. You the interviewer asks if she is chubby, and she gave a curt, "Yes."
Next, our fraternal twin brothers, Se -jong and Se-chan. Se-jong is older claims by one minute, but Se-chan, he's got the better appearance. They are both here for Hae-ra, and we jump on her interview. Her father was an unknown songwriter, and he could not take his last vestige release because of her. She wants her father to make known the last song in the world. Following this comment, it makes a face to itch the sides of her mouth. The allergic reaction is kicking in.
Henry stands before the judges (cameos of famous singers Sul Woon-do and Baek Ji-young) and raised in banmal as a former chief of New York hopes K-Pop track. His grandmother is Korean, and he makes a play on words to say: "Hal-MONEY" Ha. His specialty is the beat-boxing, and the beat goes on, as we are introduced more participants.
Germaphobe name is JANG GOON ( Park Kwang-sun of Ulala Session), and he tells the judge that his father disapproved of his audition. His phone starts to vibrate in your pocket, and it adds to the beat. The music starts to play, and we get a montage of foreplay with the candidate Lim Jeong-hee to sing "Music is my life."
This installation mixes in real candidate Superstar K2, along with new candidates, whose names are hilarious similar real singer (Hwa-nee, an indication of the Sky Hwanhee Jung-yi for Jung-in to Fly). At one point, Jung In-yi guitarist revolves around wearing the nametag Jung Seok-won - it's a cameo by Jo Jung-chi, the real-life Jung-in is of the man, by the name of Baek Ji-Young's real-life husband. HA, the Meta.
Jang Goon of germaphobic instincts be singing no more when he noticed crumbs on the side of Baek Ji-young lips. He has to put on his gloves and wipe the crumbs before he starts to sing again. Ending the auditions, and Jang Goon, Woo-ri and Kang twins celebrate their success.
your luck is quickly withdrawn when they see Hae-ra, face, her reaction worse. She insists that she is fine to audition, but the guys do not look reassured. Jang Goon gives her some special honey spray to calm their allergic reaction, but all it does is to win a bee.
Hae-ra goes to the audition with her hair tied in front of her face to hide the allergic reaction, and go out the judge that it is not satisfied in their appearance. It begins Gummy "Amnesia" -and while shooing the bee flies around her head, her swelled up face disclosed to sing. The judges gasp when they enter their credit for vocal performance. It is a given yes, a no, and Judge Baek Ji-young decides their fate.
She goes down with his head, but it is only a short-Fakeout they did it! Inside the audition room, Baek Ji-young asked why they give her a yes, and she says that her face makes for a great story about the air, that's what people love. The last participant is in, and it is Huh Gak (the actual winner of Superstar K Season 2). Baek Ji-young sighs, saying that it'll be a lot of stories this time.
Hae-ra admired the T-shirt that she had to pass the first round and Se-jong comes for them back with the medicine, with the excuse that he was going to buy a drink, but looked a pharmacy on the way. The three go for drinks, and three pervy guys eye Hae-ra bare legs. While stopped in their new home, young Hae-ra sings and noticed a boy in front of her. The boy is Se-jong, and meet her eyes for a moment before they are interrupted by an amorous Se -chan.
Back to the present, Hae-ra noticed Se-jong jacket - the one he tied around her waist - hung out to dry. Before she returns it to him, she sprayed a bit of her perfume on them. Se-jong is in the middle of the shower, while on the panic rocking out "left-handed", so Hae-ra waits and puts on his jacket. They suddenly heard a scream from the bathroom, and when they burst in, she sees Se-jong cowers in the corner because of an error.
He is afraid and runs behind Hae-ra, so she packs her slipper and chases violently after the error. It is quite humorous to both hatch, with Hae-ra on the half-naked Se-jong on the floor. The mood is tense as quickly, the disc songs in the romantic ballad "Waiting", and both are smiling secretly to herself.
your moment of Se-chan is interrupted, which asks accusingly what they do. Hae-ra assured him that no funny business was going, only that Se-jong is a big coward, hiding behind a girl, because he is afraid of bugs. Se-jong argues that he is not afraid, he just do not like mistakes. Their quarrels ends when Hae-ra kicks him violently for calling her, and she is the winner in his jacket, which is to return it.
A week later, Se -jong mother collapsed when she gets a call from the man who took their business resources. Asks Hae-ra Se-jong to send a change of clothes, and Hae-ra it has to provide itself, as it is today from work. In his room, Se-chan looks at Hae-ra heels and tells us in voiceover:. The next morning, Hae-ra extends to the terrace, and we see that the table has been deleted.
collect Participants super week with some well-known names in the crowd. Jang Jae-in and Kim Ji-soo appearance as himself, and we get some real footage of Season 2. Se-chan appears to be a team captain, and selects Hae-ra first and the atmosphere grows tense as he his conspicuously ignored every time, brother, it is to bring to the series. During their break Henry speaks on the phone with a friend about a man here that looks just like the friend. He tells him that he would send a picture of him. He looks through his photos and decide on a picture of the trio. Se-chan called to practice it to get over the back, so he promises his friend soon the picture.
COMMENTS
Huh, how curious. This first episode has introduced a great job with our characters and the central triangle, but the epilogue indicates a major conflict at hand. We have with occasional reminders get premonition that our twins the same nothing to look. It makes sense, because they are fraternal, but the drama seems more to be ingratiating. I wonder if there is a one kind of deal to be switched at birth, but more importantly, I wonder what will be twin Henrys friend look-alike. There is another layer in the story, and I'm curious to see how to develop these.
I this show was pleasantly surprised at all the goodies had in the first episode. Along with some great musical selection, it had a strong emotional impact with the trio. Emotional and romantic, it seems to be a stronger case for one side of this love triangle, and as a result, the fear has already begun. My hope is that the fear began to exit early early, so that we can move to richer conflicts and musical competition.
I especially enjoyed the comedic timing of this show, and I love Min Hyo-rin representation of Hae-ra. She is not afraid stupid or ugly for the figure to see, and that is to make Hae-ra to life. I've never heard of Kwak Shi-Yang, but I did enjoy his performance here. He can bring his feelings through silence expressed, and I like that balance he brings the trio. His character seems to come to life whenever he. With Hae-ra, who also observed a large momentum The bug killing scene was probably my favorite in this series for many reasons (surprise shower scene), but mainly because it was really funny. The facial expression and the contrast of reactions was great.
The team members also have great comedic contributions, and I look forward to as they grow together during the show. I love how germaphobe Jang Goon reacts to everything, but especially Woo-ri hugs. His instinctive rejection is hilarious unlike Woo-ri to try automatic reply to embrace him. I feel like Henry only in this drama that is very practical and weird because I do not know if the production team as him just poured or tried to follow him a script, but failed miserably. Either way, we have to play Henry Henry, and I am a fan.
I love going on the Meta for this whole show, and it seems like a great Superstar K Season 2 reunion or something. Perhaps the producers just really liked this season and wanted everyone on the set, because I've never seen so many cameos in an episode again. It's great, and I love how everyone is ready to play its role. It's funny how they try to re-enact the whole scene and replace people with umbrellas.
