Seriously Badass. I had hoped that cable network OCN latest Crime Bad Guys would my thirst for some sinister excitement and my hunger for some action-packed sequences meet-suffice it to say that it works, and then some. Not only does this show provide the smooth and edgy directing style we have come to expect from this genre, but Bad Guys offers a strong story and tough characters who each have their own powerful resounding success. [1945009[
And while the idea of a rugged detective like to gather a team of convicts sound like a dangerous game relentlessly still chasing bigger guys, I would argue: who is better to know the inner workings of the mind of the criminal, as a man who has committed a crime be? In this case, the development of an aspic of mob boss, a skill of the murderer, and the brain of a genius psychopath is perhaps not such a bad idea.
Bad Guys even an impressive performance in the ratings of snagging first place in its time slot with a solid 2.1% (which reached by the minute reviews by 3.2%) , And although I like what I see, I hold onto promising recaps and keep your eyes open to what is otherwise bring this upcoming season.

EPISODE 1:. Mad Dogs
In an interview, violent crimes detective Nam Gun-wook arises on the camera's current case takes us into the field on a rainy night, where he sits the VJ next to him from a serial killer told that is for the last six months of preying already in the rain to random women.
snippets of his interviews are intercut with the appearance of a hooded figure with a knife to his next destination swings. And when Detective Nam from his car jumps another murder from place to prevent, he says the camera, that there are times, in his line of work, if you come across a criminals that you'll risk to capture your life.
are as the detective hunting through the dark, narrow streets, he says in those days that he aware that he might never see again his family faces.
Which is why he and his detectives can not always really put their lives on the line in this job. Because if they die ", then to protect our families?"
In the pouring rain, the hooded figure stabs repeated Detective Nam before they disappear into the night. So the perp has gone a long time from the time to the VJ takes the wounded detective; it does not look like he is going to make it.
It is also hard while Detective Nam funeral where Police Commissioner NAM GU-hyun ( raining Kang Shin-il ) has the crying child - the son of the fallen detective and his own grandson - never to follow promise in his father's footsteps. Aha, so the late Detective Nam was his son.
Then he asks quietly after Oh Goo-tak that an officer has to wonder why he suddenly looks for "the mad dog".
In a shabby apartment, a scruffy-looking man shaking out of bed; it is the above-mentioned OH GOO-TAK ( Kim Sang-joong , yay !!) who prepares in his hangover state a simple breakfast. Playing in the background is a television interview in which police inspector YOO MI-YOUNG ( Kang Ye-won ) on the police effectiveness is violent offenders in fishing in the light of Detective Nam death.
questioned
Goo-tak gets barely a bite before the designated outside Commissioner Nam, asking if he would like to return to the police. Commissioner Nam wants to chase him the bastard who brutally killed his son a few days ago to rid promising Goo-tak his pent-up anger and resentment he should succeed.
"Beating up a friendly man is violent, but a bad guy beat up ... that justice is" Commissioner Nam says firmly.
a flashback illuminated on Goo-tak tragic past back when he discovered his murdered teenage daughter and sobbed over her lifeless body. Back in the present, we learn that it captured Goo-Taks doggedness criminal was, of his "mad dog" earned him nicknames; but it was also his use of excessive force, which eventually had suspended him.
Convinced that Goo-tak come, Commissioner Nam says Mi-young that he just needs some time.
what the Commissioner Nam violence and justice still echo in Goo-tak later that evening, when he was a pair of men see a woman in the street harassed head. For a brief moment it seems like Goo-tak a blind eye to the matter decides to turn, but then we see him a wooden stick against the hoodlums lead.
It is when he grabs one of them in a stranglehold that Mi-young-who is behind behind ~~ POS = TRUNC already it finally takes before killing the man. Releasing, Goo-tak tells her that she'll be a team of a few more assembly "mad dogs."
He has a few names in mind, until he sees Mi-young next. All currently in prison, we are introduced to every criminal in turn: First comes PARK WOONG-Chul ( Ma Dong-seok ), a mafia boss who overtook Seoul in just 25 days. The strong man protects vigorously its own, as evidenced when he takes the jailer down who dared to hit one of his boys.
Next, JUNG TAE SOO ( Jo Dong-Hyuk ) to hire a killer whose hits were never with him connected, but suddenly turned to one day. (Why thank you, Bad Guys , the gratuitous gracious abs display intro.)
to the package is rounded off LEE JUNG-MOON ( Park Hae-jin ), a genius psychopath with an IQ of 0 at the age of twelve. He holds the record of the youngest are in three categories: a. To acquire Mensa membership, holding a doctorate in philosophy and mathematics, and ... always to fifteen people to assassinate the recent serial killer in a period of eight months
Not a single trace of evidence was found in these murders except the victim's body, Goo-tak marks. Mi-young asks why it, no, these animals has to be these people, to the Goo-tak that their strength, skills argues in knocking, and intellect will allow them to catch out there every criminal.
will be enough obedience with the right incentives, these animals, also, he adds. Needless to say, Mi-young not the idea may catch a team of prisoners using other criminals, although they recalled later, as she went on national television and stated that the current law on the task is not better were.
Indeed Commissioner Nam uses to touch her dislike fishing worms their prejudices to illustrate about the company bad apples work. But you can not catch fish without these so-called dirty worms, he says. All has to do Mi-jung, the rod is cast, and he'll take care of the rest.
Over at their meeting in an abandoned church, Goo- tak giggles at the fishing metaphor, then another drink sips before settling down for a nap. He waves away to establish tests of Mi-young some paperwork in any language or mannerisms, and makes it clear that he is not placed with anyone who tries to take the reins away from him.
A little later, two of our three convicts come into the church in civil and handcuffs. Suffice it to say that Woong-Chul and Tae-soo exchanged terse greetings before Mi-young imagines and leads her inside.
leaves your professionalism Woong-Chul ask: "Is it safe or mannerless?" Something tells me he'll be the one-liners in this show will deliver.
Once inside, Mi-young gets to the point and loads it on the case file to look at their serial killer eight people who already murdered. Woong-Chul notes that they are here without first being said, where to go, let alone why they are dedicated in this case, on the Mi-young as Why else? You are here to catch the killer.
to Woong-Chul that mocks to think that the pretty lady messed with him, and Tae-soo out that he does not make his ignorance so obvious. Offended, Woong-Chul hurls the first blow.
Tae-soo duck, then gets a few punches in before Woong-Chul grabs him in a stranglehold. Tae-soo pushes Woong-Chul from him, and Mi-young tells them to cut it. But that's when Goo-tak finally appears and encourages the two convicts to stay on the ball
He will just keep talking while they fight. The one who catches these serial killers will have a five-year reduction in his prison sentence. Since each of them serve at least two decades worth of time, can certainly help in this property. If there are any questions, they can go ahead and carry on their little fight.
Woong-Chul turns to Mi-young, to ask, who is this random ajusshi, only said that Goo-tak is the detective in charge. He also said that, while they are able to migrate without cuffs, their pseudo-freedom comes with a long list of restrictions on alcohol, women, driving, violence, weapons and so on-so basically everything.
But Goo-tak encourages them in the same courteous nor patronizing tone, to indulge in all this anyway. "How can one live without brandy?" Says the alcoholic. It is a condition that he wants to meet them with, but :. Ankle monitor
Both Woong-Chul and Tae-soo are offended at the idea that wearing such a demeaning accessory (which usually reserved for sex offenders in Korea) , Tae-soo says they may be criminals, but argues that they still have something called human rights:
Goo-tak giggles on citing that it is the person, "The crime hatred, not the person." the committed the crime. Tae-soo is a murderer and Woong-Chul has a laundry list of crimes in his name, and as such they should be grateful to accept these conditions. Human rights is something that can weep for the period after their release into society.
And if Woong-Chul a handful grabs his shirt, Goo-tak indicates that he even talk to the service, to do it in jondae. But if Woong-Chul does not subside, Goo-tak voice drops to a low growl, "Do not Make tear if you can not bite or you will be bitten at the end of first and die.."
The Woong-Chul is to retire, but now our new team has bigger things to worry about: Jung-moon has disappeared
We see that Jung-moon stopped for a bathroom break transport had .. then Jung-moon had used a distracted moment to his advantage to attack the first policeman, then put the second officer on the wall in front of him engage in a stranglehold.
After the officer by it to kick off, moon Jung had grabbed the toilet lid and hit him with him over the head. Goo-tak seems at first to sympathize with the officer's throat, then steps away so that Tae-soo can "treat" him what is for Tae-soo basically an opportunity that gaping deficiencies in the officer's story out like the clean cut on his face and his hair debris free.
Goo-tak returns with a stamp in his hand and he shoots a menacing gloss. A policeman content comes from hard working taxpayers pockets-how he can dare give a fake certificate?
identification of the mouth of the officer as the problem, Goo-tak it extends to the piston, with the intention of him until he fesses to choke up. Just then, the other policeman to tell files in the actual story. Only one of them was on hand to accompany Jung-Moon, who had the bath eyed barn
But when Jung Moon came in, he kicked the door open again, broke the mop on his head and threatened the officer with the sharp end all in quick succession. The cry of the officer had made his partners carefully, the young Moon had taken before the cop could reach for his gun. How creepy is the moment when Jung-Moon, opens the cage door?
This is how to get young-moon the keys, was able and went freely and Goo-tak says it is up to them to find him. Woong-Chul are still reluctant about working for the detectives, but Tae-soo otherwise it thinks unless Woong-Chul plans rotting behind bars for the rest of his life, he'd better find Jung-Moon.
And to sweeten the deal, they are told that the man who shaved off his prison four years their missing psychopath will get. Woong-Chul agrees, and asks if force is fair game. Mi-young: Woong-Chul "As long as you do not kill.": ". I can not guarantee the" Heh
After their ankle monitors, Tae-soo accepted graciously the offer. find Jung-moon. Woong-Chul hilarious throwing a thumbs-up sign.
In the van, Goo-tak is certain that Jung-moon for his search going ex girlfriend Yang Yoo-jin, the almost his next murder victim was. Sure enough, Jung-moon is to see at a train towards Yoo-jin himself. And while Goo-tak does not know where Yoo-jin he is now by some people do not know who could.
It turns out Woong-Chul and Tae-soo and gives them one hour of time to obtain the necessary information. Mi-young wonders how Goo-tak as much known about Jung-Moon case file to think that he does not tell the whole story it has.
When she gets no answer, she asks her new recruits when you can rely on. "Do you know what the people need most, such as people to act?" He returns. "Despair. You will be hard-pressed to find someone as desperate as they are."
It's pretty fun to watch how Woong-Chul and Tae-soo out who should take the lead the strokes with a tight "to give you are on? Me?" Woong-Chul deletes nightclub, and there is a moment when another Herculean looking man twice his size in his way stands. Cut to: Hercules inside thrown like a rag doll. HA.
Then it goes to a warehouse, where another "Me? Me" exchange has Tae-soo take this an attack. This sequence is a nice showcase for her various techniques between brute strength (Woong-Chul) vs. Agility and finesse (Tae-soo).
Tae-soo hammers literally flourishing to his opponents with ease and with a flying kick, he hurls the hammer, the customs lands of the head of the head.
all in all Woong-chul and Tae-soo is eight minutes to make back to spare, and with the knowledge that Yoo-jin in Busan. And I do not know how Jung-moon found it, but he is already there and climbs into a taxi.
After receiving Yoo-jin info thanks to one of Woong-Chul, the contacts, Yoo-jin takes the phone as it is about answering the door. But the warning of her ex comes seconds too late, and it falls in the phone alarm to see Jung-Moon on the other side.
Terrified, Yoo-jin asks how he found them. Jung-Moon Calls flatly: "Feel at'm sorry Why?" Shaking, she asks why she should be sad. "That's what the detective told me responsible for my case:" You should feel sorry. ''
Yoo-jin says she does not feel at all sad to him. Does he not remember when he was the one who tried to ? kill in order to, Jung-moon rejects and answers: ". I ... really have no memory of trying to kill you"
Meanwhile, Goo-tak and the other comes in the apartment building, where Woong-Chul and Tae -Soo argue over once more to capture the young moon gets. I seriously Gimli Legolas against competition mood with these two. Not that it is important because it turns out that it completely the wrong have address.
Back to Yoo-jin place it asks whether or not Jung-moon then to kill his other victims recalls. In a flashback asserts Jung-moon that he did not remember killing someone , also with the crime scene photos of him.
even now, Jung-moon insists he is innocent, but Yoo-jin replies that that is what makes him the psychotic killer he is. She saw the expression on his face, after he commits murder
hadYoo-jin found again looming Jung-Moon over her dead puppy. he told her how sorry he was about the animal's death, but his menacing look and creepy smile betrayed those words.
He had told her that the shock to see his parents' death, led to sudden memory lapses, where he was not to remember the location of what happened. But Yoo-jin claims that he went and killed people in these gaps of time: ".! You were the one who killed people and tried to kill me, you were there, Lee Jung-Moon"
"Honestly, you were not the one who killed your parents? they killed her, pretending that you can not remember?" and in a chilling insight into young moon image in mind, we see his parents dead in a pool of blood on the floor ... and Jung-moon a stone in his bloody hand grasping. Oh shit.
Jung moon kneels to say that him not, but then he snaps and attacks Yoo-jin neck, choking her. Yoo-jin tells him not to this moment the forgotten tries him to kill them. "Good," Jung-moon answers, tightening his influence on them. "Let us die together."
Under our new quad, Goo-tak is the least to fly in a hurry after Jung-moon. He also called him from the hallway out loud, as if looking for a long-time friend. soothe Mi-young signals to him, but Goo-tak says what is important now is to save that poor girl's life.
So Goo-tak fires his pistol entrance to the apartment to win, where he Jung-moon as his casual greeting "dongsaeng." They were responsible for Jung-Moon case you were not? Nothing good comes out to kill that young woman, Goo-tak reminds him then warns that shot at reaalllly hurts. He sees it as a bullet before meeting or not?
not be as Jung Moon goes, Goo-tak decides to shoot. Mi-young jumps at the last second in the gun to knock off, and the bullet grazes Jung-moon arm. In a flash, Jung Moon jumps from the balcony, rolling on the road and is almost hit by an oncoming car.
After Goo-tak the goal Woong-Chul identified below, Jung Moon steals the car for yourself. Woong-Chul captures moments later and stomps on the window, but that's just a brief distraction because Jung-moon on the gas away from the stocky man rolls the car.
Woong-Chul intact, though, and as for Tae-soo, he oh so casually steals a car and takes off. He drives past Woong-Chul (the chase on foot there) and the two cars meander down the streets and up the hill where Tae-soo rammed his car into Jung-Moon.
Turn both cars before crashing to a halt. It seems that Jung Moon is unconscious from the crash, but he awake stirred again just long enough Woong-Chul welcome to see him with his right hook.
I suppose this means Woong-Chul won the first round of hopefully many more to come. Guess he is now in a 24-year sentence from its original 28
looking
Back in the church, Goo-tak not said Jung Moon all shot to take-the-arm thing to heart, then he says, a higher chance of survival has, by swimming in the flood, instead of fighting it. He can hear the Job Details of Mi-young, and they come in the restaurant in the area, if he wants to.
Mi-young accepts, and tells him that, although they do not know why, Goo -tak insists that they need Jung-moon help. And they'll ask him again: "Are you not like a person to try to live?"
Over at the restaurant, Woong-Chul compares Jung-moon balcony jumping earlier to Jack and the Beansprout (the Tae-soo as Bean corrected stalk I. already love their bickering relationship). Their argument is put on hold with Jung Moon arrival, who have decided to join the team after all Ankle Monitor and all.
After drinks for his new crew members casting, Goo-tak tells them that the only thing he wants from them is their dogged pursuit in the hunt for the even badder guys they go after are. "Do you know why crazy dogs like us are scary? Because if we bite, they die."
Raising his glass, Goo-tak, she says tonight will drink and find their first serial killer in the morning. They drink to that and thus team Mad Dogs was born.
We rewind to the conversation in the church before our convict recruits arrival when Mi-young had asked why Goo-tak agreed to take on the case and decided specifically to these three men.
they had done their homework, and found that all three criminals were imprisoned each other within one month. Scary enough suspension of Goo-tak place after a month that an instruction. A barking response from Goo-tak spores
which explains why Mi-young now keeps on him a curious eyes as Goo- tak sends a small grin toward Jung-Moon.
COMMENTS
re so fucking badass. Now I understand why the promo images Kim Sang-joong in check on a pack of Rottweilers hold because Goo-tak scored his own ragtag group of criminals to help him solve crimes. This episode does a good job to give us a proper introduction to our core characters and only show us how this new gang comes together, Bad Guys also keeps the excitement and entertainment in a steady pace comes in Hour.
I admit that Kim Sang-joong name me interested to tune in, because watching him on screen in a different pleasure was acting enough. And let's be honest badass character in Goo-tak is an added plus. I love that Goo-tak lives of these "mad dog" nickname of his, and his moral boundaries are so blurred that he has honest me to believe that if he had not a police badge, he would go and chop each offender deals with his bare teeth. He's tougher than he has under his wing ruffians brought, and the criminals know it.
Speaking of whom I actually already enjoy our trio criminal consultant, especially in the odd couple dynamic between Woong-Chul and Tae -Soo. From Woong-Chul of one-liners and Tae-soo just delivery, its lighter moments (and great fight scenes) inject some cheeky humor that is not overdone and needed to break some of the darker material crime. It will be great if the show their ongoing competition could be continued over who gets the reduced prison sentence, and I would not be surprised if they are in the end how many bats they took in a fight down. When it comes to these two, Tae-soo got the fragmented background as we do not know what forced to turn himself in that day.
Nevertheless, it is Jung-moon story that the show wants us to pay the most attention (for now at least). Although we do not know current age, Jung-Moon, I think it's interesting that his rampage before and a few years began interesting in the sense that his malicious behavior in his adult years became public (the show claiming the serial killings occurred in 2011-2012). We do not know if any other psychopathic behavior in his early years, but we know that the death of his parents initiated a marked change in him. So I can not make any further claims to Jung Moon memory lapses, until we are given more information about the work.
Another secret lies with Goo-tak and Jung-Moon, as they appear already so familiar with each other. I can not help but think that Goo-tak was responsible for Jung-Moon case, and perhaps even responsible for his arrest, but of course, what we have seen here is just the tip of the iceberg. We know how much information about these guys doing as Mi-young, and I am grateful that we have a strong, to keep no-nonsense female inspector these guys in check. Or they keep another killing.
So long as Bad Guys keeps the focus on our newly-minted Team Mad Dogs and the growing pains that come with every new type of relationship, then it should be enough, this show prevent too much feeling like a show just process that weekly crime triggers. Let the hounds because hunting.
