I must say, I'm firmly in the "this show only gets better and better" camp , and this episode is no exception. We have finally to the point where real feelings can not be hidden or ignored, and at the same time we learn why Ki-tae and his family are so afraid to show their true feelings, and I could eat it with it just a spoon.
I enjoy especially the way the show gives us more information about Ki-tae parents, and their actions and reactions. The reasons for their behavior are so real and accessible - it is a situation that can (and will) happen to anyone, and the different ways they choose to protect themselves and their feelings are very understandable. I often have trouble when showing things like Birth introduce secrets and background stories where someone killed the mother someone's father or whatever. The stuff is certainly shocking and makes for interesting television, but something just does not happen to normal people; so in a way, if a drama brings into action points that I can not relate in a real way, even though I enjoy the story for his shocking and dramatic, it creates a barrier between the characters and me as a viewer. They are less "human" and more "character in a drama," so I lose some of my connection to the characters and I'm just not invested so emotionally.
But a man who cheats and a woman to show to the world a perfect family, to the point that their own children stunted emotionally .. now. so much energy focused, that's something I can see happening to normal people, and it really attracts me to the characters and makes to worry, what happens to them. recap last week in my I devoted to complain a large part of my remarks that Ki-tae mother lost my sympathy.
