Good. * Unclenches hands of armrests * This was certainly intense. I did not expect JTBC the new fantasy historical drama Mirror of the Witch to be , quite as dark, but I have to say it really works. The promos it give a good mystical flair, and there was definitely a very fairy-esque. But after that first night, it begins more like a creepy horror film to feel, and I love . With absolutely stunning camera to meet gripping characters and the atmospheric music, the drama has already managed to get me in its spell.
EPISODE 1 RECAP

The Queen is awake in her room, fastened with a Talisman her skirt. As before, the shadow goes and crawls under her blanket, placing her in Hae-RAN of the child.
Hyun-seo falls to the ground, defeated. When he has been captured by the guards, he thinks back to the dream of the queen and wonders if this should happen. Perhaps he was not able to block it yet.

However, there is a complication: The princess of her brother die at the hand. Hong-joo has to offer a second solution to burn the princess, but this requires the work of a Taoist master as Hyun-seo.
Which is how Hyun Seo is released from prison. Mirror Witch Note did a pretty fantastic job of building his own world that you placed it in because the key points coming in the characterizations and performances really do not need to understand the historical context. This is simply a good story, does not require that we outside the drama of the world know the information in order to fully understand.
That said, I also believe it is worthwhile to know the historical setting, not only because I find the story fascinating, but because I actually think this is another aspect of mirror that's good DONE because while all about this central plotline episode is fictional, the story will fit with what us the story of Queen Munjeong, King Myeongjong said, et al. The drama makes veiled references to "five years ago" and an unnatural offense, the king of Injong must be death, in 1550 or thereabouts put in this episode. Injong sudden death at 30 years old after nine months of rule was the source of much speculation over the years, especially that he was poisoned by his stepmother, Queen Munjeong that her eye had for her own son on the throne.

Wow, what a first. Let it get out of the way, which is certainly a gorgeously shot drama. The stunning visuals are pretty hypnotic, keep your eyes glued to the screen, even for the more disturbing images. I am sure that leads to the introduction of our main, the tone wheel is down, but I hope it's something holding of that magic that first rolled me in.
But in truth, even if the Drama wasn 't so nice, I would have been just as fascinated. Thanks to the almost perfect pacing of the episode, there was not a moment when I found myself bored. We can see that mirror to get not afraid dark already, and I think that there is room for many options makes. Some scenes seriously had me wincing away to be when the newborn princess was burnt alive especially. I think it is scenes like this that might be too much to handle for some viewers. But at the same time, it is the courage of the show to go so far that has occupied me like this. Although the rules of all these black magic sometimes confused may seem, it is very easy to fall only in the story and go with it.
I think I'm just so interested in these shamans Hong-joo in out. Apropos, Yeom Jung-ah is completely Slayer this role so far. Your sly smile you give me some important goosebumps, and it only got worse when she gets the royal family ever deeper into their black magic. I want them to hate so many lives ruined, but there is something about her that tells me it is not just any drama villain. And thanks to the errors of the people around them, these children will suffer. It really set a requirement for tragedy, but I can not wait to see how the younger group of characters make their way to fight through it. This first episode was pure setup for the Princess, but also that tiny view of Yoon Shi-Yoon portrays Heo June, me excited for our time jump.
