Today's episode is a big secret (or at least a large corner of it), the twist is large enough, a few things to do on their pages. I like to be surprised, and especially if we get a early in the game because it gives me to have faith helps that the show keep them from regularly churning, which is infinitely preferable to the drama, the just holds its surprises, until there is nothing more surprise. In this case, the result, we are again left dangling on fresh information and until we get on the hook for another week breastfed our curiosities, which both welcome (yay, excitement and curiosity) and provocative (argh, silly voltage and ! Curiosity)

EPISODE 3: "Secret Mission"
Dal-hyang found under enemy fire after chasing Mi-ryung and her sidekick No-soo (formerly known as eyepatch) in the mountains. on two sites under the protection of the army Manchu offered security by Ingguldai, but that does Dal-hyang is suddenly a target, and dozens of arrows flying at him all once.
He drops his rearing horse but quickly somersaults behind a tree get shot to avoid. Ingguldai ordered his army to him then looks puzzled at, as Dal-hyang horse gallops on alone.
... and from the other side we see, Dal-hyang to the saddle hanging for dear life, hiding behind his horse's body in a tuck position. HAHA. I laughed out loud in public..
Once at a safe distance, he swings like a normal person in the saddle and rides. he with his sword cuts branches, so they'll "fall way into his pursuers, and manages to surpass it.
But his horse, despite an effort with multiple arrows bravely soldiered on, has finally breaks. Armentier! are all of Dal-hyang of animals doomed? Dal-hyang has on foot, all while wondering why he is being chased in the first place.
Prince Sohyeon it does after gibang encounter back to the palace, where he secretly cunning politician experienced conspiracy against King Injo. the worry Princess, Yoon-seo sees his hand dripping blood and tried to tilt it, but is asked to leave. She sees that Seung- po hand is bloody and wants to know why, but he avoids unpleasant question.
Sohyeon, shocked to see micro- ryung asks a eunuch, as it might be possible. the eunuch had been the one to confirm that Mi-ryung had hanged all those years ago and looks stunned to hear it, but I'm still not sure if he really surprised or act. He stated that he had never really seen Mi-ryung body after the hanging, but had been told that she was buried and took that as confirmation. Surely her father would not lie to the king dare he muses, and dares to assert that Sohyeon seen wrong.
The princess tried to ask again to be what was her husband, and Sohyeon are completely incredible statement that the "blood" it is dripping only red colored liquid, and that he played a prank. She has not, but Seung-po assures her that she will see so that they need not worry a doctor.
Go to the royal physicians would blow them up in great excitement and therefore Sohyeon resorts more secrecy. His Musketeer cronies awaken an old doctor in the middle of the night, and based on the way Sohyeon greets him as it seems, they are well known. In fact, I would bet money that Sohyeon is personally responsible for some of the gray hair on his head.
troops General Ingguldai finds Dal-hyang horse in the forest dead, but no Dal-hyang in sight. Ingguldai wants to know who is responsible for it that-is the prince? Politicians Kim Ja-jeom? Or Mi-ryung to play daring backstabber?
Mi-ryung replies that she does not know who was the sudden intruder. Ingguldai warns that if the prince dies of this encounter, their neck is because line-if Sohyeon stabbed on the die of No-soo that war could spur.
No-soo assured her that his cut was not fatal, although probably more luck than deliberately, because he says that he would have made sure he do to him would in known that it was the prince. "What did this country for us?" He scorned.
A tired Dal-hyang makes it in one piece to his flat back, looking half dead. He breaks on the floor in exhaustion, but a second later he bolts upright, sensing something is wrong. Is Danger underway?
So if a cheerful-looking servant knocking at his door, he has the lights scared out of him, as the door swings open, and Dal-hyang faces him cold with a bow and arrow to the right of his face. The servant named Pan-swe (played by Lee Kyun ), asks Dal-hyang to calm down and explains that he has been sent by Seung-po.
Pan-swe also provides a letter in which Seung-po checks, the Dal-hyang is safe after the escapade last night (and says he was busy looking for a friend who "stood out a little" got and the night "crying like a girl") output. In flashback, hilarious, we see that it actually Seung-po, which is a weepy, worrying while the Prince takes his treatment stoically.
Seung-po asks Dal-hyang with his servant to go to the Musketeers, to meet and so the head it to the teacher's home about, ministers and diplomats Choi Myung-gil ( Jeon No -min ). Dal-hyang comes to Minister Choi at home in time rebuked him Seung-po and Min-seo for their misconduct, and not to see the protection of the Prince correctly, while the two Musketeers earn their lecture as school meek.
Then Sohyeon draws Dal-hyang attention, mock-scolding him to be partially responsible for the prince's injury, because he had not properly protected him. Dal-hyang begins to defend his actions, but adheres by halfway and acknowledges that he moved excuses. Instead, he excused themselves by for not following his promise.
Sohyeon asks what the two people he happened hunted and Dal-hyang explains that he lost in the forest, when he came to foreign soldiers. suspected Based on its description, Sohyeon that he must have run into foreign envoys and the famous General Ingguldai.
Next Minister Choi Myung-gil his scolding turns to the prince who says all the words of apology while looking completely unrepentant (the Minister Choi notes). At this point noted Minister Choi new arrival, and Dal-hyang introduces himself and offers to the letter his father wrote-this was the distant relative he had tried his first night in the city to contact.
Minister Choi reads the letter, and attempts to place Dal-hyang father who tortuous line Dal-hyang offers (Choi brother-in-law's maternal uncle nephew) track. Dal-hyang looks excited as he Minister Choi knows his father seems, but loses air when he realizes that his father did not register, although friendly Minister Choi because of him pretending he could.
Dal-hyang gets hot In any case, Minister Choi and folds it right in the group because it is already opened their secrets. He stated that the current political situation is precarious, it senses impending war. And that would throw the government into disarray act as Minister, to save their own necks, the beginnings of which we have already seen. He asks Dal-hyang how he plans to protect his country, now that he is a soldier, whose mission is to serve.
The Three Musketeers, meanwhile discuss what they have seen. You guessed correctly that the wily Kim Ja-jeom flee the capital, now that the Prince has identified him and his co-conspirators. Sohyeon musing that it (the Qing in the near future will be) no surprise that Kim would be yes-jeom so quick to make friends with the king of Later Jin, as he always looking for ways to benefit themselves. But why should Ingguldai try Kim to be yes-jeom justice, he wonders. What would Kim able to promise him?
The eunuchs Prince pays a visit to Mi-ryung father, Mr. Yoon to ask before the five years of her suicide. What is surprising is that Mr. Yoon not directly either to see her body because he had been told by his servants that the sight was so terrible that he immediately buried. Mr. Yoon had not pressed the matter, and then more curious, the servant hanged himself a few days later.
That is, no one can confirm Mi-ryung death closes Sohyeon. Practically that. On the other hand, he can not be sure that the woman he saw yesterday, they had to secure his guess without further evidence. Asked what he would do if they were really alive, he does not answer.
The prince returns to the palace in the early hours intention to his morning make to his father greeting, only to hear that the princess waiting for him for a while before finally about their own position. We can see that Yoon-seo practically trembling in fear to do this alone, especially because it entails the king lying (about the prince not feel) -but still, they screened the courage her tears flashes back and presents itself at the door of the king.
at the last second but Sohyeon joins her out of the blue. She is shocked and relieved and the tears begin to spill over, as she registered his arrival. He pauses to allow them to compose themselves, and then they make their usual Injo bows to King. Yoon-seo and Injo both notice him favoring his arm, as he bends, but he deflected it with a ready excuse.
Injo a bit is placed at its nightmare-inspired outbreak in the middle of the night, embarrassed, and asks his son to understand his discomfort. He sighs that his nerves would be somewhat appeased if the prince were to have an heir, and asks if hopefully the royal couple, all news has. Try? But the simple question asked, more tears of the princess, and their emotional response baffles the king, who wonders why his words would be so annoying.
At least Yoon -seo is insured by the eunuchs that Sohyeon was not very hurt, and that he spent the night with his teacher.
His conversation with Minister Choi sets Dal-hyang in a pensive mood the next day. He thinks about his words about protecting the war and his country, then takes his place in the ceremony for new officers, where he will officially be an officer of the state. Meanwhile give four cowering officials in hushed voices, panicking because their secret meeting was discovered by Prince. Make them especially nervous is the fact that no one knows where their leader, Kim Ja-jeom went-what if the prince dies of his injury and the four ministers for getting the blame?
that's when Sohyeon interrupts in tow with his followers and asks them pleasantly as they passed their night and said that he had bad dreams of treasonous plotters which ruined his sleep. He says pointedly: "I was so relieved to wake up and realize that it was just a dream, and that it is not real."
Sohyeon continue to have after the ceremony while Minister Choi remains behind a word with the four traitors. She swallows nervously.
The princess heard the festivities of her palace quarters and asked if they want to come. She refuses, but the mention of the ceremony she recalls with young Dal-hyang of Being, who had told her to come when he passed the exam that makes them wistful, but also brings a little smile on her face.
King and Prince Injo Sohyeon take their places, and the ceremony begins. Dal-hyang awaits its turn with the expectation and when his name is called, he steps forward. Just as he does, Yoon-seo comes and looks at with pride and takes in the eyes for a few happy moments before retreating.
In the middle of the process Sohyeon the eunuch a look at something starts worrying and told the prince about to look where watching the families. Standing in their midst, fiercely glaring directly at the Prince, is Mi-ryung.
Ack! She has to shoot him as an intense look that it irritating, and even a little scary. Sohyeon holds her gaze for long seconds and has the eunuchs to get them. She goes and makes its way through the park, one step ahead of the eunuch-only stay right the way to run in Yoon-seo.
Mi-ryung at Yoon-seo glare, does not know who she is and politely asks if she's okay. Yoon-seo do not quite know what to make, even though the meeting certainly meets her strange.
Dal-hyang returns to his home after the ceremony at which point he gets another visit from Pan-swe, which provides a further letter of Seung-po , He congratulates him and tells him that Pan-swe are on is his gift him his slave papers.
Pan-swe reactionary "Oh no, what misfortune of heaven is I am ruined!" - Is anything but flattering, and he with to drive less screws home to find out what kind of error Seung-po made. Certainly meant that he is someone else Pan swe too important to send out!
And then Dal-hyang is surprised by another unexpected visitor: Sohyeon, the charges in and makes himself comfortable. Dal-hyang receives clumsily him because this seedy surroundings, but the prince tells him that he is more comfortable outside the palace, as in him. Because he had not been charged as Crown Prince (King Injo only king was ousted by a coup of his predecessor, Gwanghae-a coup led by Kim Ja-jeom, in fact), he finds the palace restrictive, with too many watchful eyes.
Sohyeon calls this of them a secret between the two, do not even know the other two musketeers over. He asks what contributions Dal-hyang is interested in serving to mention a special unit as a way to Sohyeon could recommend him ... but opposite. Dal-hyang face goes from hopeful to perplexed and offended when the prince says innocent, that he did not bring Dal-hyang in the immediate vicinity with the princess-what if she falls?
This is a joke, of course, and Sohyeon adds that his real reason for the refusal to give him this job because he wants him to another where he who 'd do directly with the Manchu envoys namely, General Ingguldai. He gives him the instructions Mi-ryung to find, as Dal-hyang is one of the few who knows what she looks like, and bring it to Sohyeon. This is his first order as a soldier.
So Dal-hyang is in the ranks of officials who set up outside the city in a row to get the Manchu envoys. Ingguldai outputs the signal to his men to draw their swords in their approach. The Joseon troops forward rush their people to protect, and the air grows thick with tension.
Then, the screen rises out of the car window and Mi-ryung peers from. You and Dal-hyang lock eyes, and she smiles at him.
Dal-hyang flash the prince gave him back the instructions: to keep this a secret. Sohyeon describes this as both a private and public matter to him, and when asked what he wants from her, he replies that he wants things to unfold differently than five years ago.
In another flashback (within this flashback), we see a younger Mi-ryung cry and call the prince. She is tied up and says pleadingly, "You said you love me." And then young Sohyeon gives her an order: Oh holy shit "commit suicide.". That was a left turn I did not expect.
So it is not too far from the truth when Sohyeon says Dal-hyang "I killed them. But as it has survived, this is a shocking thing. "Dal-hyang at the implication stunned that he could kill again, asking what he will do this time. Sohyeon replies: "I do not know, I have to see how to do it, what I'll do." Sohyeon it continues to be one of two ways. He will either kill them again, or maybe they will hold hands and be in love again. He says it in his trademark ironic tone, which does not reveal how outrageous either option.
Stunned and confused, Dal-hyang asks if he or serious joke but Sohyeon explains question and answer time about:
"Now, run the job."
COMMENTS
Whoa. I did not expect, but it is certainly not explain certain quirks in Sohyeon character, right? I expect that it completely to be a complicated, perhaps even sympathetic reasoning behind the suicide, but it is hard to argue that it is useful or even justified. Perhaps it was purely politically driven, or there was coercion involved, or the stakes were super high, but in any case, the end result is that Mi-ryung was an innocent girl used as a pawn, and Sohyeon was the agent of betrayal.
It certainly explains their turn now, the side of the Manchus against the Joseon court in a situation that will almost certainly lead to war. He may have had the greater support in their youth, but now she's on the side with the power (since this would be a war that the Manchus are ready to win-they are on the way up, while their rivals in the Ming dynasty, which maintained alliances Injo, crumbling). The question now is, what it intends to do once it has come close to the prince; if it is a personal vendetta, they meant to kill him? Or just help a rival nation destroy Joseon and take their revenge to see his dynasty subjugated? I am fascinated. Mi-ryung was always an interesting character its ferocity and screen presence given, but to see the backstory, support all that hostility makes absolutely fascinating.
The extension, which also makes equally fascinating Sohyeon and throws his character in a darker shade. It has the dual effect of me as both less him and more; less because of the obvious reason that his charming, now witty facade marred by questionable morals, and more, because complicated characters are much more stringent than those who are only likable all the time. Even if likability nothing to scoff is (God knows I would not a character like that is just unpleasant to be different either!).
And now, it will be a challenge for Dal-hyang, to find out where he is, if his personal code of honor is placed in direct conflict with his professional one, because as a soldier, he owes certainly the Prince his extreme devotion. So he is going to take on this secret mission, I'm sure, but I expect that his pure soul to challenge him every step of the way. It is something that he made to a certain extent has to grow (some profanity does not win everything is bad, especially if you are of naivety as fully as Dal-hyang), but it is also something that makes him who he is, and to a certain degree, I see that as part of its identity. I'll be curious just to see how much he and the show changes over how much he did not.
